About / contact
My name is Cole Goco, and I am a visual artist based in Arlington, Virginia.
I am passionate about all forms of visual storytelling, whether it be illustration, cartooning, film or animation. No matter the medium, I strive to create work that is accessible, engaging and meaningful.

Growing up I always loved to draw, a passion that expanded to various forms of comic art — comic strips, books, and short one-off stories. The largest of these projects was my webcomic Billy the Pop, which was posted over seven years and collected into three self-published books. I've received five national Scholastic Art Medals for my comics and illustration work, and Billy the Pop was an honorable mention for Wesleyan University’s Hamilton Prize.
Over time I became increasingly interested in moving pictures, teaching myself 2D animation and directing short films. My combined live-action + animation short Animated was nominated for a national “Student Production Emmy” from the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. My 16mm thesis film, Snap Away, received departmental honors and several accolades at film festivals around the country.
I studied film and biology at Wesleyan University, and since then I’ve sought to combine those art and science disciplines by creating work that is educational and public-facing in nature. This pursuit has led me to clients such as the National Museum of Natural History and the National Aquarium. Animals and natural ecosystems have always featured prominently in my artwork, and it’s my dream to use art to communicate environmental and ecological themes to the world! But I am also open to go wherever imagination takes me in art, even to less scientific, more fantastical subjects.
